JSA Strategies, PR Manager

Description: JSA Strategies, a Santa Monica-based boutique communications firm, is looking for a Manager to join our team serving clients in the consumer technology and digital media space. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing public relations strategies including: media relations, thought leadership, content creation, and strategic counsel. This is a great opportunity to join a small team and make a big impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Play account lead role on several large accounts and interact with client executives and team members.

  • Develop strategic plans and execute successful campaigns for a range of clients, specifically in esports, gaming and digital media.

  • Develop narratives, positioning and messaging on behalf of clients.

  • Maintain and develop strong media relationships, pitch in-depth story ideas, and be responsible for developing creative written materials that reflect an understanding of our clients’ businesses.

  • Assist in handling many of the day-to-day deliverables for account teams, including content creation and oversight as well as project and account management.

  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests and prep executives.

  • Consistent proactive creative idea generation and media opportunities on behalf of clients.

  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior executives and client contacts on a regular basis.

  • New business development and industry relationship building.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field; minimum five to seven years experience.

  • Individual with esports or gaming experience preferred.

  • Strong media relationships with reporters in business and tech, and bonus points for esports and gaming

  • Exceptional communication, writing, editing, and organizational skills.

  • Deep understanding of media landscape and story-telling.

  • Team player and effective collaborator.

  • Can work in a fast-paced environment, switching back and forth on industries and clients frequently.

  • Self-starter and self-confident, but also enjoys having fun.

JSA Strategies, PR Coordinator

Description: JSA Strategies is a boutique public relations firm focused on clients in the digital technology, digital media and consumer tech space. Because we are a small but mighty team, this position allows for more "hands on" experience with research, participation in client meetings, development of pitches and other writing materials and social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all speaking opportunities and award submissions across clients

  • Assist with developing and executing media programs to build buzz for clients

  • Develop pitches, media alerts, press releases and other press materials

  • Monitor media outlets and share real-time updates on important stories relating to clients, its competitors, or industry related trends

  • Assist with tracking client media coverage on a regular basis and building coverage reports

  • Assist with special event logistics and other project support as needed

  • Participate actively in client meetings and interface with clients on a regular basis

  • Manage the JSA Strategies Twitter and LinkedIn accounts

  • Be proactive in ideas for clients and adept at finding new approaches

    Office is based in Santa Monica, CA across from the Brentwood Country Mart.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field

  • Relevant internship experience or work experience

  • Ability to proactively seek out opportunities for clients and think strategically

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong research skills

  • Ability to build personal relationships with clients, media and partners

  • AP Style proficiency when developing press materials

  • Experience managing social media channels

  • Knowledge of today's media mix in order to identify and drive Public Relations efforts

  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at once

  • Attention to detail and follow-through

  • Can do attitude
