Meet The Woman Behind JSA Strategies

JSA Strategies is a boutique communications consulting firm founded by Jennifer Stephens Acree in January 2009. Acree is a results-oriented public relations professional with more than 20 years of experience developing and executing winning communications strategies for leading and emerging media and technology companies.

At JSA Strategies, Acree and her team of professionals work with select clients to develop decisive communications programs tailored to get results based on clear business objectives. Acree’s success with clients is based on her strategic planning for each client as well as extensive media relationships across business, technology, advertising and entertainment sectors.

For more than seven years, Acree held various senior corporate communications positions at Yahoo! Inc. and Overture Services (acquired by Yahoo! in 2003). As of December 2008, Acree served as Vice President of Corporate Communications and was responsible for Yahoo!’s category-leading consumer web products. She was recognized in the December 2008 issue of PR Week as one of the “40 Under 40″ PR professionals to watch.

At Yahoo!, Acree managed a team of more than twenty PR professionals and provided communications counsel to the company’s senior management. Acree worked to establish Yahoo!’s influencer communications program and played a critical role across multiple fronts, including mergers and acquisitions, crisis communications and internal communications. She established a national consumer spokesperson, which significantly increased the company’s reach.

Prior to Yahoo!, Acree was Senior Director of Public Relations at Overture Services, where she oversaw the company’s media relations activities, including financial communications, and led the company’s acquisitions of AltaVista and FAST, as well as Yahoo!’s acquisition of Overture. Prior to Overture, she was Director of Public Relations at Business.com, an eCompany start-up, and served in the Corporate Practice at Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations firm. At Burson, Acree worked with clients in telecommunications, technology, oil and gas, as well as non-profit entities. Prior to Burson-Marsteller, Acree served as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill, focusing on issues including the economy, health care, and technology policy.

Acree graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of Southern California. She resides in Santa Monica, California with her husband and daughter.
